At a time when reindustrialization seems to be the subject of consensus and when industrial sovereignty is at the heart of national concerns, how to explain that France has become “a country that no longer knows how to manufacture what it consumes”? In fifty years, France has indeed emptied almost half of its factories and a third of its industrial jobs. Contrary to popular belief, this deindustrialization was not inevitable. "Amazon - The Last Frontier" continues the saga that began in 2003 with the documentary "Legacies of a Utopia," by Alexandre Valenti, which addresses state planning initiatives in the Amazon throughout the 20th century. In this sequel, political, socioeconomic, and human aspects are the guiding thread of a journey spanning thousands of kilometers into the heart of the ongoing revolution in this mythical land. Enterprises such as the Madeira Complex hydroelectric plants (Jirau and Santo Antonio), SIPAM and its various programs (Nova Cartografia, Terra Legal, PrevFogo, etc.), as well as initiatives like the Juma Project and the Bolsa Floresta from the Sustainable Amazon Foundation, are some of the topics in this documentary. The way the Amazon is preparing for the 21st century and the challenges of Sustainable Development are presented in this film.
