Viking Wilderness is a documentary television series about the animals of the Nordic Countries. A remote northern wilderness. A land of epic extremes. A world of darkness and perpetual light. These are the wilds of Scandinavia. This is the Viking Wilderness.
2011
In the deadly frozen landscape of Scandinavia, a stunning cast of animals including bears, wolves and muskox clash in a life-and-death battle against the elements — and against each other — in the endless fight for survival.
Scandinavia's bitter climate means its new arrivals must grow up fast. Summer's rich seasons are short. If this year's young don't make the most of them, the long and brutal winter will claim the unprepared.
Scandinavia's 100,000 miles of coastline provide an extraordinary and varied home to thousands of animals, from the seemingly impregnable battlements of dramatic cliffs to secret ocean depths — home to the dolphin, humpback whale and Greenland shark.
This is a world of extremes, where fire and ice clash in spectacular style. A land of constant change and revelation. Creatures here have adapted to survive seeming impossible odds, but how will they cope when faced with one of the planet's most bizarre and varied landscapes?
