Soushuu Senshinkan Gakuen: Hachimyoujin is a dark urban fantasy visual novel created by Light and written by Takashi Masada (the creator of Dies irae). It features his signature style: modern-day teenagers gaining chuunibyou-style superpowers, intricate lore, reality-warping philosophical battles, and massive stakes.
The common route of Soushuu Senshinkan Gakuen: Hachimyoujin acts as a massive introduction to set up the characters, explain the complicated rules of the Kantan dreamworld, and transition the story from a fun anime adventure into a dark, lethal supernatural thriller.
Yoshiya pushes his copying abilities to the absolute limit to defeat his terrifying father and reverse a fatal dream-wound inflicted on Akira, securing a peaceful everyday life together.
The group confronts the traumatic ghosts of Japan's Meiji and Showa eras, forcing Yoshiya and Ayumi to shatter violent historical illusions to break free from the past.
The conflict escalates into a full-scale reality-warping war against Shirou Amakusa, where Rinko's absolute laws of justice are tested and refined to execute definitive spiritual judgment.
Yoshiya unlocks the ultimate truth of the dreamworld and fuses the powers of all his friends simultaneously to win a reality-shattering final battle at the eighth layer.
