The adventures of the unpredictable Martini family led by the tireless Grandpa Libero.
1998

The Martini family moves to Poggio Fiorito, a residential area on the outskirts of Rome. Lele faces all the problems that the move entails. Luckily, his sister-in-law, Alice, is there to help him. The family's new housekeeper, Cetinka, causes chaos: as soon as she's hired, some money goes missing, and suspicion falls on her. But could this really be true? And are we sure she's from Poland?

Alberto, Lele's only grandchild, runs away from home and takes refuge at the Martini house because his parents are divorcing. Meanwhile, Grandpa Libero, to save money, starts selling musical pillows. Maria's birthday is coming up and she asks her father if she can celebrate alone with her friends. Lele agrees but is reluctant. Around the same time, Maria gets her period, and Rebby is the first to know.

Alice and Giulio, Lele's best friend, are worried because the doctor hasn't dated women in years, so they decide to set him up with a 35-year-old doctor named Irene. Lele's salary isn't enough to cover his family expenses. So his ex-father-in-law finds him a job at a private clinic that performs plastic surgery. Will this be the right fit for him?

Barbara, a young intern who courts Lele, arrives at the local health authority. Meanwhile, Giulio is admitted to the hospital after suffering a heart attack; will Lele's timely intervention save his life? Ciccio is struggling with his first love and would like to ask his father for advice, but Lele has other things on his mind at the moment. The trial regarding the accident that killed his wife Elena has begun.

Due to a sudden flood in his home, Giulio finds temporary shelter at the Martini house. Lele is obviously happy to lend a hand to his best friend... but only up to a point. Alice convinces Lele to sign up for a tango class with her. Sparks fly between them and they realize they're attracted to each other. But just then, Sergio, Alice's ex, arrives.

Grandpa Libero, attracted to piano teacher Maritè, takes some piano lessons from her, and Alberto and his friends start smoking against Lele's wishes. Laura, a colleague at the local health authority, is having problems with her ex-husband, and so Lele decides to help her, pretending to be her boyfriend. But it seems only Lele is pretending: Laura seems to have genuine feelings for the doctor.

Alice has an unusual mole appearing on her skin. She'll have to undergo surgery, and she wants only Lele by her side. This will trigger intense jealousy in her current boyfriend, Sergio. Sergio and Alice's relationship is becoming serious. Lele decides to openly confess his feelings to his sister-in-law, but the results aren't what he hoped for.

Sergio and Alice set a wedding date. At the Martini household, no one is happy about Alice getting married, and they're right: one evening, in fact, after returning home drunk, Sergio savagely beats Alice. Alice's wedding is annulled: fortunately, she has truly seen who she's dealing with. So, distraught, she moves into the Martini household. Meanwhile, an old flame of Lele's arrives at the clinic.

Grandpa Libero argues with his in-laws who want Maria to enroll in a very exclusive private school. Although things aren't going well, she's rather focused on her crush on a boy from her school. Irene's reappearance creates a lot of confusion in Lele's mind, so much so that he doesn't realize how unhappy Alice is. Meanwhile, Grandpa Libero's romantic relationship seems to be progressing.

Lele organizes a weekend reunion at the Martini house with all his childhood friends, offering them room and board, but over the years his friends seem to have changed significantly. Ciccio is sad because he didn't bring a good report card to his father, who scolded him. He meets Gus, a boy who lives and works at the circus, and decides to go with him and run away from home.

Great jealousy swirls in the air: Irene is angry with Lele because no doctor at the local health authority can resist his advances, while Maria is dealing with her first heartbreak. Not all the flirtations are welcome. Grandpa Libero tries to contain Marite's advances, while Alice must curb the editor-in-chief's "attentions." A surprise ending to Irene's birthday party.

Lele finally manages to spend a passionate night with Irene, but things get complicated when he decides to introduce her to his family. Meanwhile, Giulio is grappling with a serious problem. Lele's relationship with Irene has begun, but not everyone is happy about it. Especially Maria. Uncle Spartaco's arrival from America is welcomed as something to celebrate, but the visit hides a bitter surprise.

Maria continues to hate Irene, hoping that Aunt Alice will fall in love with her father, because to her they seem like a perfect match. Meanwhile, Cettina rejects her boyfriend's offer to live together. Lele discovers that Irene has hidden the news of her scholarship to Boston from him. She also doesn't intend to follow him to a friend's wedding in Milan. It's there that Alice and Lele meet again in Lele's room, alone.

Ciccio wears a hat lent to him by his girlfriend Susy, but it's full of lice, and the whole family becomes infected. Meanwhile, Alice and Giulio plan a night out, but it turns out to be a disaster. Lele and Irene argue after the latter discovers that Lele spent the night with Alice during their wedding in Milan; Irene is involved in a road accident, while Nonno Libero's motorbike is stolen.

A new doctor arrives at the ASL: Doctor Oscar Nobili. One day a shot is heard from the newcomer's room, it is a man who is trying to commit suicide in front of Oscar. Lele will discover a secret. The Martini family goes to Venice to visit Nonno Libero's brother. After visiting the city, the Martinis go their separate ways. From this moment on the trip turns out to be full of unexpected events hidden just around the corner.

While Lele and Irene visit the stalls of the neighborhood party where even Libero, Giulio and Giacinto sell modern objects, the Martini house catches fire. Lele is very worried: the insurance, which has expired, does not cover the costs for the renovation of the burnt house and Ciccio confesses that he caused the fire by playing with firecrackers.

Alberto hopes that his mother has finally found the man of her life. Unfortunately the woman has decided to resume the affair with her ex-husband, who comes to a strong clash with her son. Alberto will still remain at the Martini house. Irene, due to the expiry of her contract with the Asl of Rome, has to ask for a transfer. Lele tries to save their relationship and asks her if she wants to marry him.

Grandpa Nicola finally returns from Brazil, and Nonna Enrica decides to peek into his suitcase, discovering a beautiful necklace. The bad surprise, however, is that her husband returned three days before her: he lied to her! Ciccio suspects a relationship between his father Lele and his friend Susi's mother. Meanwhile Alice is becoming famous, but her career seems to compromise her family affections.

While Lele and Irene spend the weekend in Bologna, the new neighbors arrive, with whom Ciccio has some problems. Meanwhile Cettina argues with Alberto because of his snobbish friends. At the Martini house, it seems that a maniac is pursuing Cettina, in reality it is just a misunderstanding. Meanwhile, Alessia Merz shows up at the local health authority and seems interested in Lele.

A group of children from an institution for orphans arrive at the polyclinic for vaccinations. Among them is Robertino, a kid with Down syndrome who mistakes Lele for Santa Claus and asks him for a new bus for the Institute as a Christmas gift. Nonno Libero has organized a show with Orietta Berti, but it would appear to be a scam. Alice and Irene will also have to work on Christmas Eve, and the magic of Christmas is struggling to reach the Martini house.

Ciccio is looking for a girlfriend for Nonno Libero in a magazine for lonely hearts. Ricky, Jessica's boyfriend, ends up in a coma after a car accident. Maria, on the other hand, is invited by a boy she likes. On the radio where Alice works there is a column dedicated to health. Lele and Alice are convinced that the presenter is a charlatan, and even the ASL are starting to worry about the success of the show.

Alice gives Maria tickets for the Backstreet Boys concert, but a worried Lele doesn't want to give her permission. Luckily grandfather Libero intervenes! Giacinto is fired, and it's up to Cettina to resolve the situation. Meanwhile Jessica and Lele go to Ricky who has awakened, but there is a nasty surprise lurking.

Ciccio steals from grandfather Libero's wallet and together with his friend Filiberto skips school and goes to the mall. But there the two are threatened by other kids, who force them to give them the money. Lele finds a pregnancy test in Irene's locker, and hopes for the arrival of a child. But things are not like that, and indeed Irene was taken to a clinic in Milan. This changes everything on the table.

Maria heard the news of Leonardo Di Caprio's arrival in Rome to shoot a film and goes to Cinecittà, where she meets Johnny, the bodyguard, and develops a crush on him. Meanwhile Giulio decides to leave for Africa. Alice was seen in the company of Tiberio Timperi and Lele gets jealous. Meanwhile, Giorgi discovers that he has kidney failure and everyone at the ASL is worried, while Lele and Irene continue to argue.

The Martini family relaxes in the countryside, where Maria meets a boy who invites her to a party. But the situation takes a turn for the worse: the boy shows too much insistence, until he becomes violent. But someone is ready to intervene. Grandma Enrica returns from Ponza with some news, she has fallen in love with the owner of a fruit and vegetable supermarket that Alice doesn't see kindly. Meanwhile Lele decides to buy a ring.

Alice meets François, a doctor and friend of Giulio who arranges for African children to stay with host families for a time, and decides to go with him to produce a report. And what about Lele?

Lele and Alice spend the evening together to celebrate her departure, but he cannot bring himself to confess his feelings. However, when he learns from François that Alice is in love with him, he decides the time has come to declare his feelings.
2000

Lele is eager to see Alice again after her declaration at the airport, but a letter she sent seems to cast a shadow over the future of their relationship. What will happen? Lele goes to the airport for Alice's arrival, but in his place arrives a woman Alice met in Africa and to whom she gave her ticket. The two lovers still have to wait, but what will happen when the time comes?

Lele decides to give Alice the ring he bought her some time ago, but it seems to have disappeared into thin air. Meanwhile, the relationship between Cettina and Giacinto seems definitively over. It's Lele's birthday, but the whole family pretends to forget about it so they can throw him a party. Meanwhile, the doctor's relationship with Alice is kept secret, but how long will they be able to live in hiding?

Libero wants Lele to marry Alice, but his son doesn't feel ready yet. Er Pasticca, a friend of Alberto's, asks him to deliver some pills, but they end up in Annuccia's hands. Alice has planned a romantic weekend with Lele, but he has to go to a conference in Turin. Among the colleagues will be an old friend of Lele's, of whom Alice is terribly jealous.

Cettina asks Giacinto to meet to clarify their situation, but he doesn't show up after being stabbed. Cettina can't know this and assumes her ex deliberately didn't show up. While at Alice's house, Lele learns that his girlfriend has been receiving calls from a manic admirer for several weeks, and he doesn't seem to want to stop there.

Libero enters a contest to win a dinner with a singer, introducing himself as "Henry Killed Spider-Man." His grandfather takes home the prize: Max Pezzali arrives at the Martini house. While the Martinis are on the radio, Lele receives a phone call telling him that Alberto has been in a car accident. Everyone rushes to the hospital and discovers a very different reality.

Alice spends more and more time at Casa Martini. Alberto feels responsible for the accident that left his friend Adriano disabled, but thanks to his uncle's help, he finds the strength to visit him in the hospital. Lele and Alice have decided to get married and are looking for a place for their honeymoon together. Everyone helps them find it, but each has their own opinion, and in the end they decide to make do on their own.

As preparations for Lele and Alice's wedding are underway, Alice is plagued by doubts. Lele finds a letter in which she expresses her confusion and wishes to think things over, far from him.

A group of girls dressed as odalisques show up at Lele's bachelor party, including one who looks very similar to Lele. Alice catches him red-handed, but are we sure she's right? The wedding preparations seem never-ending. The village where Alice spent her childhood vacations is chosen for the wedding ceremony. But there are plenty of setbacks.

Lele and Alice are finally married, but as they're leaving for their honeymoon, she has a miscarriage, unaware she's pregnant. Their plans change dramatically. Maria and Reby have a great idea: have their friends play music in the garage! Will they manage to get Lele's permission? Giacinto plans to quit his job as a security guard and open a shop. Will Cettina allow it?

"Pasticca" apologizes to Adriano, but will she be able to earn forgiveness? To escape Carmelo, a very persistent suitor, Enrica takes refuge in the Martini house. What will Lele and Alice come up with to get some alone time?

Alice feels constantly sick, and a few people are already telling her that she has all the symptoms and might be pregnant. Lele, however, fears something serious. Alice has an ultrasound and discovers she's expecting twins. Lele and Alice return home to tell the others the news when a phone call comes in informing Grandpa Libero that his friend Fausto is in the hospital.

Grandpa Libero packs his bags and leaves home due to his two children's constant arguments, ending up in a nursing home. Until he learns he's been appointed building manager. Nilde wants Lele to go into the delivery room, but the next day Lele wakes up late and arrives at the hospital after his sister has already given birth, to a surprising black baby boy.

Alice and Lele announce the gender of their unborn children to their family: a boy and a girl, but the happiness isn't shared by the entire family because Annuccia becomes jealous. Alice is very anxious about the arrival of the twins, and bombards the family with advice and readings from birth manuals. Not to mention the contractions that terrify her and force the couple to rush to the hospital every night.

Alice tries to help Maria, who is going through a difficult time in her life: Roberto has asked her to make love to him, but the girl doesn't feel ready for such a big step, even if telling him is difficult.

A great job opportunity for Alice is ruined when contractions begin. Meanwhile, Lele is in the hospital where Giorgi died from post-operative rejection... Will he make it in time for the twins' birth?
2011

Three years have passed since Guido's death, and the time has come for Maria to start over, even romantically. Meanwhile, Lele asks Bianca to take the plunge, but he discovers she's still married to her ex-husband. Bianca is determined to divorce him so she can marry Lele, who has since reunited with an old acquaintance, Virginia, while researching a rare disease. Furthermore, Annuccia faces trouble.

Bianca finds herself struggling on two fronts: seeking information about her ex-husband, and jealousy over Virginia, which grows despite Lele's reassurances. Maria receives a tempting job offer. Marco announces on the news that Nonna Enrica's D.O.P. mozzarella from Puglia is made with a different type of milk, not buffalo milk. The war begins!

Lele teaches a lesson on the environment at Annuccia's school and becomes a hit with his daughter's classmates. Meanwhile, Bianca's ex-husband, trying to put a spoke in her wheels, is determined to win over little Inge by any means necessary. A bolt from the blue strikes Bianca: the chocolate shop has been put up for sale. Furious and fearful for the future, she finds herself weighing her ex-husband Gus's offer. Meanwhile, Grandma Enrica plots to bring Maria and Marco closer together.

The Martini children are being bullied at school. When Lele and Bianca discover the situation, they convince the children to report the incident to their teacher. Bobò will be the one to demonstrate all the necessary courage. Lele's jealousy leads him to follow Bianca, who has left for the countryside with Gus and the children. Meanwhile, Maria helps Marco expose a clandestine gambling den.

Maria, with the help of her entire family, takes care of her little Palù and returns to work at the clinic. Grandpa Libero, who has left for America, entrusts Grandma Enrica with running the Apulian food products business. A hot air balloon ride offered by Gus turns into a cauldron of tension. Lele joins them as soon as he can, just in time to see the engagement ring he gave Bianca fall from the sky.

Grandma Enrica returns from the United States with a surprise that leaves everyone stunned: she's taken in a homeless man who leaves the whole family stunned. The Martinis' Christmas dinner is, as always, a seaport. And this year, on the day when everyone is at their best, Lele will give Gus a break.

Lele, due to the presentation of the research for the drug he's working on, is spending more and more time with his colleague Virginia. Virginia's ex-boyfriend, increasingly jealous, continues to harass the doctor. Maria feels guilty for not having devoted enough time to Marco lately. But when he shows up unexpectedly at her house, she'll be the one left speechless.

Ciccio is faced with a difficult realization: Tracy doesn't want to get pregnant because of the competitions she has to complete. Meanwhile, Maria doesn't believe Marco's explanations. Inge is willing to do anything to spend her father's birthday at the farmhouse with him. Despite Bianca's protests, she puts into action a foolproof plan that will cause a lot of problems, including for Lele.

Ave receives an anonymous letter from a woman, in which she learns that Guido's heart has been transplanted into her son's body. Meanwhile, Giulio meets Magalli, to whom he wants to propose a TV show. Both the clinic and the company that produced the drug are reported by the brother of the patient they were treating. Meanwhile, Marco and Maria discover that they truly like each other.

A ministry inspector comes to inspect the clinic after Virginia chooses to administer a drug not yet authorized. Marco receives an unexpected phone call and learns he must leave for Venice. Everything between Maria and Marco is going swimmingly, and passion explodes. Meanwhile, Bianca discovers the truth about her divorce from Gus at a crucial moment in their relationship.

Lele is determined to take control of his love life, telling Virginia there's nothing going on between them and declaring in front of his children that he'll do anything to win back Bianca, the only woman he loves. The discovery of Bianca's pregnancy deeply upsets her, and she decides to leave. Virginia will seek her out to explain the truth.

Like the baron in the trees, Inge decides to run away from home, just on the day Bianca is busy baking a birthday cake for Maria. The search begins. The search continues, and Gus finally finds his daughter at the farmhouse, suggesting she travel with him to Los Angeles. At the baby's first ultrasound, Lele and Bianca discover that Ciccio and Tracy are also pregnant.

At the Martini household, preparations are in full swing for Lele and Bianca's wedding. Little Palù is tasked with bringing photos of her parents to school, and Maria helps her daughter cope with the grief of Guido's passing. The big day has arrived, and everyone is ready to head to Ovindoli for Lele and Bianca's wedding. But as always in the Martini family, the unexpected is just around the corner. Will they make it?
2016

While the entire Martini family is on vacation in Puglia, a mysterious man leaves an envelope addressed to Elena, Lele's late first wife, in the mailbox of the Poggio Fiorito villa. Valerio, Elena's former piano teacher, under the pretext of a rap concert, tries to get to know Anna and seems overly interested in the affairs of the Martini household. Meanwhile, Sara, without consulting Lorenzo, signs the preliminary agreement for the purchase of a villa.

Lorenzo learns that the tendon in his hand is damaged and blames Sara for the incident. Mortified, Sara decides to take a walk on the beach. There, by chance, she stumbles upon a party where, over beers, she meets Andrea. Completely drunk, the two end up in bed together. Sara and Enrica decide to track down Dr. Williams, who could operate on Lorenzo's hand, but the doctor is on vacation and refuses to work. The doctor's plans include to tour Rome in a carriage, but a strike prevents him. So Sara and Enrica decide to "steal" one and take him on a tour of Rome. To thank them, Dr. Williams agrees to operate on Lorenzo. Oscar's daughter Agnese returns to her father in the city, but he is busy and can't get to the station, so Tommy goes instead. Libero finds a letter in which Maddalena writes to a certain Francesco and, unaware that he is the Pope, believes that she is in love with the gardener of the parish she attends.

Maddalena is summoned to the Vatican for a private audience with Pope Francis, but Elena and Bobò are behind the summons letter. Anna, meanwhile, continues preparing for the medical school entrance exams, but her encounters with Valerio and Geko become increasingly frequent. Anna, accompanied by her grandparents and the Martini family's lucky teddy bear, takes the medical school entrance exam. Meanwhile, Lorenzo decides to admit Celeste, a young resident, to the operating room, but she panics and runs away.

Libero and Enrica invite Valerio to dinner to repay him. For this reason, Lele is forced to reveal the secret that binds him to the man. Meanwhile, Lorenzo hires Andrea to renovate his new house; when Sara meets him, she remembers the wild night she spent with him. Libero, still reeling from the revelation about Valerio, tries to attack the man, urging him to stay away from Anna. Meanwhile, Emiliano, at the suggestion of Ginevra, his new girlfriend, goes to Lele's clinic to hand over some money he owes to the young Martini, thus breaking all ties with the past.

It's Anna's birthday. To celebrate, young Martini gathers relatives and friends, including Valerio and Geko, at her house. At the end of the evening, Lele confesses the truth about Valerio and the paternity test to Libero, Enrica, Sara, Lorenzo, and Maddalena. Lele is determined to tell Anna the whole truth about Valerio, but he can't find the right moment to broach the subject. Meanwhile, Sara and Lorenzo are invited by Federica, Andrea's wife, to the same beach resort where Sara and Andrea spent their wild night.

Anna, having discovered the truth about her real father, is distraught and decides to lock herself in her room to be alone and reflect. Meanwhile, the Martinis finally decide to build a second bathroom in the house, despite Libero's resistance. Paolo, Bobò's best friend, reveals to Lele and Edoardo that he is gay and is at the mercy of school bullies. Meanwhile, Augusto, a plumber who immediately takes a liking to Maddalena, arrives at the Martinis' house.

Anna is increasingly struggling and has failed her entrance exam. Lele asks Carla to have Anna register for the Biology exam, which, once passed, will allow her to enter medical school. Anna, on the eve of her exam, is spending the night at a nightclub. Tommy and Agnese, who told their parents they were going to a film screening organized by the school, are at the abandoned factory.

To get revenge on Maddalena, Augusto brings his mischievous nephew to the house, who gets up to all sorts of mischief. After discovering Augusto's plot, Maddalena scolds him, but he tells her they're even. Upon learning the truth about Sara's betrayal, Lorenzo punches Andrea. Then he gives in to desperation and gets drunk. Meanwhile, the financiers for the new surgery department, which Lorenzo will direct, arrive at the clinic.

Ciccio returns to Rome to view a mare he wants to buy. He's warmly welcomed by the entire family and goes with Lele to Valerio's loft where Geko's album presentation is taking place. On the plane to Berlin, Sara meets Matteo, a concert promoter who gets her two tickets to a DJ's show. Lorenzo, annoyed by their friendship, tells his wife that something between them is broken forever.

Having learned of Lorenzo's crisis, Libero goes to the house to speak with Sara. She shows Libero a nearby grove, but just then, city gardeners arrive: the trees need to be cut down. Maddalena, deeply concerned about Rocco's situation, decides to go look for him. Libero accompanies her, but when they arrive at the address Maddalena indicated, they find a crowd of people at the door and an ambulance.

Rocco, who has settled into the Martini household, does nothing but eat and then lounge on the couch. When he says he's going to look for a job, Augusto and Libero follow him and catch him playing video poker. Lorenzo manages to operate on a little girl with a heart defect with his. Celeste and Lorenzo are overjoyed and congratulate each other. They leave the clinic together, hand in hand, but Sara catches them red-handed.

Lorenzo spent the night with Celeste. Sara decides to participate in the "Cuore a Cuore" association race, but Lorenzo refuses to sign the eligibility form because he deems Sara's competitive activity too risky. Jacinta goes to Poggiofiorito to meet Rocco and tell him she intends to get back together; Rocco is on the verge of giving in when he notices Libero and Enrica spying on them.

Emiliano leaves the Raggio di Sole Center and finds Ginevra lifeless on the ground after being hit. He calls an ambulance that takes the girl to Villa Aurora, where Lele is informed of her identity. It's the day of the volleyball tournament final. The boys are excited and thrilled, but they realize their coach is distracted and has other things on her mind. Meanwhile, Lorenzo receives a bitter message from Sara.
2013

Grandpa Libero has finally returned to Poggio Fiorito. Immediately, Marco and Maria announce their wedding, which will take place in two weeks. For the occasion, Grandpa has a special surprise in store: he's hiring Al Bano! The offer to buy the Aurora clinic forces Lele to tell the truth about the house they're about to take from him. The Martini family, informed, takes action.

The situation is critical for the Martinis. Really risking losing their house, Grandpa Libero sets out to track down the builder who defrauded them. For Grandpa Libero, losing his home is such a serious threat that it's even affecting his health. After his reluctance to sell used items at the neighborhood flea market, the family convinces him that everything is fine.

Lele finds himself clandestinely treating an old patient. He decides, taking great risk, to begin clandestinely seeing patients who can't afford the clinic's excessive prices. Annuccia begins working part-time as a delivery driver rather than ask her father, Lele, for money for the international class trip. She finds herself in a rough neighborhood when some thugs harass her.

Bianca's relationship with her mother deteriorates under the chagrined eyes of Inge, who is truly devoted to her grandmother. Meanwhile, Marco lies to Maria about his new assignment. As if they weren't already in enough trouble, the Martinis have to renovate the roof of their house. It's not exactly the right time financially, and the family is truly worried.

Lele and Bianca discuss the matter and believe it's necessary to fire the gardener, who has been tending the villa's garden for years. However, Melina, overhearing the conversation, believes she'll be the one to be fired. So she immediately gets to work. Marco returns to Rome, and Maria picks him up at the airport. Unexpectedly, his colleague Antonia is also with him. Lying to his girlfriend once again, Marco manages to get away with it, but Maria begins to suspect him.

Lele and Bianca discuss the future of the Martini household and decide to look for a new place. The children, however, don't welcome the news, and they decide to move into the house, unbeknownst to the entire family. Marco gives Maria his engagement ring and promises that they will get married immediately after his final departure for Brussels. Meanwhile, at Villa Aurora, Lele and Guenda seem to grow closer after she shows her human side.

Maria has no idea where Marco is, so she takes it upon herself to authorize the operation for little Jonathan. She discovers the bitter truth: Marco has been lying to her, continuing to film documentaries in war zones. Marco returns to Rome, and Maria is waiting for him at the airport, only to tell him that it's finally over between them. Once they both return home, the situation seems to improve: but how long will it last?

Things between Marco and Maria seem to be getting worse and worse, so much so that he returns home early in the morning to make the children believe he's still living with them. Grandpa Libero notices the situation and promises to help him. Seeing her father's increasingly sad state, Inge decides to arrange a meeting with the separated mother of a schoolmate. However, the date goes sour, and the woman goes into anaphylactic shock.

Maria seems more determined than ever to pursue a relationship with Roberto, but she continues to hide everything from Marco, who begins to suspect her. Maria and Roberto's relationship seems to be progressing well, but when she discovers that Palù has bitten one of her friends, displaying an aggressive attitude she's never seen before, she realizes the little girl is suffering.

Marco risks losing custody of Jonathan, but Maria offers to help him. The situation becomes more complicated, because now Marco and Maria are forced to organize a fake wedding. With the help of their family, Marco and Maria manage to convince the assistant. Everything could be resolved, if it weren't for Micol's threat: if the wedding doesn't happen, she will do anything to get the child back.

Marco and Maria announce to their children that when they return from the school camp, they will each go their separate ways. At this point, Maria can focus on Roberto and introduce him to the family. While Maria is driving to her daughter's camp, her car breaks down. She decides to call Roberto, but just then Marco arrives and offers to drive her.

Lele helps Maria clear her head, and the young woman realizes that her heart actually beats for Marco. Unfortunately, Roberto's father is on the verge of bankruptcy, and Maria doesn't feel like leaving him now. Antonia does everything she can to distance the journalist from his ex-girlfriend, even making Maria believe that, in addition to moving to New York City, Marco will be living there with her.

Everything seems to be working out for the best: Lele manages to buy back the house with the money he got in Paris thanks to Bianca's show, while Maria, after clarifying her doubts, will return to Marco. And Roberto? As they're about to cut off the electricity and gas at the Martini house, the family decides to leave before it all ends before their eyes. But there's still time to plan a surprise wedding for Maria.

Everyone is worried, but thanks to little Eros's intuition, Grandpa Libero knows where to look. At the outpatient clinic, everyone is gathered waiting for the announcement of who will be fired, but everyone is shocked to learn that Emilio has submitted his resignation to save his colleagues.

Sarita accepts Emilio's marriage proposal, but Indian tradition dictates that the groom go to the bride with his parents and ask her family for her hand in marriage. Libero and Enrica offer to accompany him. Sarita tries to convince Kabir to accept Emilio, but he is opposed, as he values respecting tradition. Sarita then decides to leave home and go to live with the Martinis.

Sarita and Emilio must keep their respective families at bay: Enrica wants to organize a grand wedding, while Kabir wants to organize a traditional Indian party.

To save the clinic, Emilio proposes to buy it with his colleagues and patients, all of whom will own a small share. Meanwhile, bachelor and bachelorette parties are being planned for the future spouses. At the Indian restaurant, Ravi's arrival causes a stir, especially since Kabir doesn't have the courage to reveal that his niece will soon be marrying Emilio. As if that weren't enough, the young man shows up at the clinic to see Sarita.

Maria falls ill with mumps and can no longer defend her thesis, so to avoid the girl waiting another three months, she can't wait to return to Africa with Guido. To resolve the situation, the family comes up with a plan.

Ravi gives the girl a letter from her father, written 25 years earlier, in which he claims to have promised his daughter in marriage to repay him for a theft. She refuses to marry him, so Ravi demands that she pay the debt. Sarita has decided to marry Ravi. Maria lets Emilio know why the young Indian woman left him. Emilio visits Ravi at his hotel and attacks him. Maria finally manages to defend her thesis and graduate with a top grade.

There's a lot of news in the Martini household: Maria and Guido have been engaged for two years, and Guido travels back and forth between Rome and Milan. Ciccio still plays rugby and is engaged to an English girl named Emma and... Grandpa Libero is called to school because Annuccia wrote a decidedly strange essay about family. Maria rents a house for herself and Guido, but discovers that, for now, he's forced to stay in Milan.

Meanwhile, Guido is sad because he has to stay in Milan for another two years and doesn't know how to tell Maria, who is currently interning at the local health authority. On the way to Milan, he has an accident. Maria misses Guido greatly and is considering continuing her studies in Milan, at least until graduation. Guido, meanwhile, is trying every way to get a transfer, but it seems hopeless.

Cettina and Torello's house is now finished, but Cettina is in for some unpleasant surprises. Maria and Guido have decided to move in together, and to keep them from moving far away, Cettina finds an unexpected solution. The family decides to give Guido and Maria a hot tub and a Bohemian crystal chandelier, but the children get angry because they want to furnish the house themselves. The first arguments arise.

Among friends and family, Guido and Maria can't find a moment of peace at home, and this certainly isn't good for the couple. Grandpa Libero, however, due to a series of misunderstandings, thinks Ciccio is taking drugs. Grandpa Nicola makes a grand comeback, but the reality is very different from what he pretends. He invites Maria on a cruise, and she, who initially refuses, eventually realizes that all her grandfather has left is family affection.

While Marcello feels attracted to Eufrasia, Torello's nephew arrives in Rome, whom Cettina welcomes like a son. Cettina asks Torello to bring his grandson Rosalbo into the partnership, but one night they overhear him plotting against them on the phone. The two decide to make life impossible.

Cettina doesn't know how to tell Torello that she's not actually pregnant because he's showering her with attention, arranging everything for the future baby. During an ultrasound, she steals a video showing triplets to play along. Libero is worried about Olindo, an old friend of his who's been missing for days. He learns that he's in a nursing home and can't even talk to him or find out how he's doing. Libero then asks Guido to do an inspection.

Maria has returned from her cruise, and Guido immediately showers her with affection, so much so that the entire Martini family catches them soaking in the hot tub. Meanwhile, Cettina has a truly horrifying experience. Guido is anxious because he has to present the project for the family hospital, but Maria forgets the interviews with the local health authority. But the troubles aren't over: her scooter doesn't work, and it's a race against time.

Reby tells the Martinis that she's getting married to a Japanese designer she met the week before. Maria isn't convinced, knowing her friend's quick crush, but this time it seems serious. Guido finds a pregnancy test, actually belonging to Reby, and, frightened by something he feels is bigger than him, runs away and leaves a note for Maria. Having heard nothing from him for two days, Maria is heartbroken.

A man very similar to Grandpa Libero has been wandering around the Martini house for a few days, and trouble begins for Grandpa: everyone is starting to think he's seriously getting old and can't remember things. After a check-up recommended by Enrica, Grandpa Libero learned that his blood pressure isn't good and that he might need open-heart surgery.

Libero writes a letter and gives it to Enrica, asking her to pass it on to Lele in case he dies. Then they both go to the town hall to sign the wedding papers and ask to get married as soon as possible. The local health authority (ASL) is in danger of closing, and all the doctors organize a sit-in protest, which proves futile. Guido, however, decides to request a return to Milan, since staying in Rome no longer makes sense to him.

While the local health authority (ASL) is being dismantled, the doctors decide to perform all scheduled visits free of charge. Meanwhile, Guido is nervous and has an argument with Maria. Furthermore, he will be responsible for closing the local health authority (ASL) for good. Franco decides to take Maria to a farm, but that same evening, after reading a note from Guido, Maria realizes she's confused. Fortunately, the only thing she's certain of is that she doesn't love Franco.

Guido is seeking funding for the family hospital and decides to organize a charity match to raise funds, while also offering a donation to the bank. After spending the night with Guido, Maria runs away and confides in Reby, telling her friend what happened the night before. She also tells her that she's confused and doesn't know what she's feeling right now.

Guido and Maria are back together and are stronger and happier than before, but he doesn't want Maria to leave for Nigeria. He also has a very important proposal in store. After three years away, Lele returns to the Martini household, finding the situation more than a little unsettling. Thanks to Grandpa Libero's help, Lele will finally be able to become a full-fledged family man again.
2009

Many returns to Casa Martini: Guido has returned from his experience in Africa, Lele returns with his twins. Cettina and her family are absent: the Martini family's former housekeeper has apparently disappeared in a shipwreck. A nasty surprise awaits Guido and Maria: they discover that their apartment's tenant refuses to return the keys. During a chat, Grandpa Libero reveals to Lele that he's feeling the weight of old age.

With Grandpa Libero gone, Lele is left to care for the entire family. Elena and Bobò are anxious about their first day of school. Annuccia continues to behave rather arrogantly toward her younger siblings. Maria is assigned the case of a little girl hospitalized for stomach pains, likely due to her grandfather's absence, who has gone on a long trip. Maria discovers that the truth is much more painful.

Fanny and Maria become friends, but Maria is jealous because she fears Fanny is courting Guido. She doesn't suspect that her young colleague is interested in another member of her family: her father. Maria's pregnancy progresses, and so do the cravings. Meanwhile, a child neuropsychiatry department will be opened at the clinic, which is precisely the young doctor's specialty.

Libero and Enrica return from Puglia for the Christmas holidays. Meanwhile, Guido resists the idea of starting a relationship with his newly reunited mother. Fanny discovers toxic waste dumped in a river. Guido and Ave have a tough confrontation, and Ave increasingly feels the pain of not being there when they needed her. Giulio wins the lottery, and an unexpected snowfall in Poggiofiorito brightens Christmas Day.

Maria prepares an exclusive evening for herself and Guido, who is forced to stand her up. She's felt a bit left out of Guido's life since she's expecting a baby, and she's convinced he no longer likes her since she's pregnant. As Maria's final months of pregnancy approach, Lele senses that becoming a grandfather will be a new adventure, completely different from being a father. Especially since Maria's water breaks early!

Grandpa Libero returns to Rome to meet little Paola. Lele tries to convince Fanny not to continue the relationship, but she's truly in love. Giulio convinces Grandpa Libero to participate in a new program, Cambio Nonno (Grandpa Change). Libero accepts and finds himself with a new family, one from Lazio, to boot. Consequently, the grandfather of that family goes to live with the Martinis.

The twins notice the silhouette of a woman behind the window of the Torello house and believe it to be Cettina's ghost. Grandma Enrica, with her friends, organizes a séance to summon her. A friend of Annuccia's surprises Fanny and Lele. Annuccia, after finding out from her friend, is reluctant to accept her father's new girlfriend, unlike the rest of the family, who are still somewhat confused.

A colleague confesses to Lele that he's in love with Fanny. Lele, embarrassed, doesn't reveal his relationship with the girl. Meanwhile, Ave tells Guido that his sister hasn't taken the news of having a brother well. The twins convince Bianca and Lele to go to the water park, where they hope to make them fall in love. Fanny decides to tag along to get to know the twins, but they're having a hard time.

Fanny decides to introduce Lele to her family. Ave receives permission from the Martinis to move into their home, as the housekeeper Melina is unable to care for the baby alone. Bianca receives a commission from the Vatican to make a chocolate sculpture, but the twins smash it to pieces. Lele helps Bianca, and after working all night, the two kiss.

Lele discovers that Fanny's tests were switched, meaning she isn't pregnant. The two decide to break up, and Lele can now live with Bianca, but Bianca is about to return to the Netherlands. The Martini family is summoned by the police because an American woman is asking for them. The Martinis discover that the woman is actually Cettina, although she seems to remember nothing of her past.

Lele tries, in vain, to reconnect with Bianca, who is hurt by the doctor's treatment. She felt seduced and abandoned because of Fanny's pregnancy, and it's difficult to forgive. Maria believes Guido is cheating on her with Albina, unaware that she is his sister. Lele makes one last attempt to win Bianca back, but it's too late: she must leave for the Netherlands.

The Martini family organizes a surprise birthday party for Lele, who is desperate for the woman he loves. Ciccio learns that Tracy has returned to Rome. He can't resist: he goes to visit her at the riding stables! Guido confesses his betrayal to his wife, who packs her bags and goes to live alone with her daughter, driving Guido into despair. Ciccio realizes he's in love with Tracy. Meanwhile, Lele goes to London and declares his love for Bianca.

Guido tries to win Maria back, but when she seems to have forgiven him, she sends him a request for separation. Lele intends to stay in Rome forever and announces this to his family, who are thrilled. Grandpa Libero and Ciccio's double wedding is approaching, and preparations are in full swing. Maria and Guido must meet with their lawyer for a preliminary meeting to discuss the separation. But will it be the right choice?
2003

Lele leaves for Australia while Alice, who will soon join her husband, is in Brazil. At university, Maria meets Guido, a brilliant doctor who is looking for a place to live and will be hired by the new director of the local health authority. Maria is fascinated by Guido, but the doctor seems completely uninterested in her. Meanwhile, Ciccio, after a prank that nearly ended in tragedy, attempts to escape from Lele in Australia.

Enrica notices the growing connection between Maria and Guido and puts a "flea in Grandpa Libero's ear," who begins to worry. Meanwhile, everyone begins to discover that Alberto hasn't even passed a single university exam. Grandpa Libero doesn't want anything to happen between Guido and Maria and does everything he can to keep them apart. Meanwhile, Alberto is depressed and sleeps in the garage to be alone. It will take his family's help to pull him out of this dark depression.

Cettina sets out to find Giacinto, discovering a bitter truth. Maria, due to a painful experience, no longer wants to take her medical tests. Will Guido be able to convince her otherwise? Nilde is forced to close the restaurant due to a poisoning and notices that Guido is the one signing the complaint. Alberto, improvising a late-night radio show, manages to get a permanent job.

A new nutritionist, Carlotta, arrives at the local health authority. Her obsessive and aloof behavior fails to win her affection, and misunderstandings and disagreements arise between her and Guido. Until something brings them together again.

Guido tries to befriend Carlotta, but the obstacle he has to overcome is her phobia of physical contact, a difficult obstacle to overcome. Meanwhile, Maria is increasingly jealous of Guido.

Grandpa Libero meets Antoinette, the nanny of one of Annuccia's classmates; the child is strangely too quiet, and Antoinette doesn't understand why, so Grandpa Libero invites her to take him to the local health authority so Guido can examine him. A mysterious statue found in the garden divides the family. Guido tries to help Carlotta solve her problem, but the situation quickly escalates, verging on disaster.

Carlotta confesses to Guido that she's in love with him, sending him into a crisis because he can't understand his feelings for Maria. Their birthday dinner, however, is cancelled due to an unexpected event. Maria is delighted to have met Gianluca, a charming lawyer who courts her like a true princess. Meanwhile, at Ciccio's school, some kids break in at night and break the pipes to skip tests and homework.

Gianluca surprises Maria by taking her to lunch on a boat on the Tiber, bearing a flag with the word "Maria" written on it. Meanwhile, Guido has started dating Carlotta, and everything seems to be going well... or not? Carlotta suggests that Guido move in together, and the doctor accepts. Meanwhile, Maria, having broken off her relationship with Gianluca, has begun volunteering at a drug rehabilitation center.

Maria is preparing for an exam and is very nervous, and Grandpa Libero thinks it's Gianluca's fault. Guido and Carlotta continue their relationship, even though the breakup puts a strain on their relationship. Grandpa Libero hears the news on the news that a young blonde student has been arrested in Fiumicino along with Gianluca for drug dealing. Thinking it's Maria, he feels ill and suffers a heart attack.

Meanwhile, Guido is having problems with Carlotta, who's fed up with seeing her boyfriend completely absorbed in the Martini family. Maria sees Gianluca in front of her house, telling her he wants to run away to avoid the trial. Guido and Carlotta are increasingly at odds, and they argue again during dinner. Guido goes to a friend's house, who introduces him to two girls, and the next morning, the doctor wakes up drunk next to one of them.

Maria is angry with Guido and disappointed because he cheated on Carlotta. A self-esteem course is being held at the local health authority, and thanks to it, the doctors are able to talk about their problems, especially Carlotta's. Guido and Maria go to pick up Annuccia at the zoo, but the little girl gets lost. Because of this, Guido doesn't show up for his appointment with Carlotta, but in the meantime, Maria and the doctor finally kiss.

After their kiss at the zoo, Guido realizes he has strong feelings for Maria, but she wants him to leave Carlotta first. Meanwhile, Carlotta seems increasingly attached to Marcello, and not just for work. Maria is tired of waiting for Guido and decides to go out and distract herself with Reby. During a night out, she's stopped by the police and her car is confiscated. Who will get her out of this mess?

Maria and Guido go to the beach to be alone, and when they return home, covered in sand, Libero realizes they spent the afternoon together. Due to a mistake, Guido is suspended from the local health authority. Maria asks Nonno Libero not to tell anyone about her affair with Guido, but he realizes that everyone already knew. Meanwhile, Guido makes house calls, and patients show up at the Martini house because they want only him.

Guido and Maria's relationship falls apart due to a misunderstanding. Even Grandpa Libero is furious with the boy, unable to understand that it's not actually his fault. Guido then decides to make a video to explain everything. Given all hope of getting Maria back, Guido requests an immediate transfer to Milan and says goodbye to Marcello and Carlotta outside the local health authority. On the way to church, Maria realizes she wants Guido and runs to the station...

Lorenzo decides to speak to Dr. Savino himself, but he hides behind a medical confidentiality pact. Oscar remains her last resort, and from him she manages to uncover the truth and the illness Sara is suffering from.

A little girl finds Sara unconscious on the beach. She calls Lorenzo on her cell phone, who rushes to her and, after resuscitating her, takes her to Villa Aurora. While Grandpa Libero, Grandma Enrica, and Ave pray for Sara's recovery after the surgery, Lorenzo finds a television on which he can watch a video recorded by Sara before the operation.
